CDF to Host July 19 Webinar on Independent Contractor Classification |
The challenging economic environment has spurred employers to continue to seek ways to efficiently manage their workforce. One common strategy is to use independent contractors. However, if a worker is not properly classified as an independent contractor the risks are significant. Misclassification may result in substantial liability including unpaid overtime, employee benefits, unpaid taxes, workers' compensation premiums, and uninsured worker injuries.
Join us for awebinar on Tuesday, July 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. PDT, during which we will explain the rules for whether a worker is properly classified as an independent contractor, including examples from the latest cases. The presentation will also cover how employers canmanage the risks associated with independent contractors, including a top ten list of practical strategiesto identify whether someone is properly classified and manage the relationship to ensure that the worker remains an independent contractor.
