CDF LLP Hosting Upcoming Webinar on Social Media in the Workplace |
CDF Partner Mark Spring will be conducting a complimentary webinar on Social Media in The Workplace on March 15, 2011. This program is designed for attorneys, HR professionals, managers and business owners and will help attendees understand the increasing risks of social media in the workplace and how they can best be minimized. The seminar will discuss some of the latest trends that have emerged in this area over the last 6-12 months.
In today's workplace, most American employees are using social media. Some are "Tweeting" from work. Many are "Facebooking" each other or Facebooking with customers and suppliers that they interact with in the workplace. Almost all of us know people who post to their Facebook wall what they are doing almost every minute of their life, including while at work. In addition, HR and management are using social media and other web searches as a way to evaluate potential employees and check up on current ones, sometimes without any guidelines or policies. Unions are now using social media as a way to interact with their members or to organize employees. Social media is here for the long haul. Employers must take steps to minimize the risks.
During this webinar, Mr. Spring will discuss the risks that social media websites create in the workplace, as well as ideas on how employers can effectively use social media and social networking websites to their advantage. Just some of the topics that will be discussed during the webinar include:
1. Creating and Implementing a Social Network Policy - Tips and Ideas.
2. How Can Employers Regulate What Employees Put on Their Facebook Page About Work?
3. Can Employers Use Facebook and other Social Media Websites to Check Up on Applicants andEmployees? If so, What Are the Limits?
4. An Employee On Leave Has Information on His Facebook Page Indicating the Reason for the Leave is Not Valid - What Can the Employer do?
5. Dealing with Unions in the Age of Social Media.
The webinar is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. PST on March 15. To register for this complimentary webinar, click here.
